1. What negative emotions can we face?
Are you feeling overwhelmed by called negative emotions? It is ok, I did too and I managed to overcome them, focussing on what life is worth living. You are not alone so, let begin the journey.
Emotions are psychological states. They originate from individual's circumstances, and relationships with others. Generally, with behaviour and physiological changes in the body.The called negative emotions can emerge when facing difficult experiences or discomfort. That can originate when facing circumstances such as a divorce, unemployment, losing a loved one, a tragic accident, stress, depression a betrayal or simple trying to achieve your goals in life.
Emotions (physical) are feelings (mental), thoughts (complex psychological state), or actions (response) that emerge according to what is related to an individual subjective experience. Feelings are an individual perception of specific emotions. Some people use the term moods for emotions. Psychologists consider emotions as intense but short-lived, normally with a specific and known origin. A mood is less intense but longer lived than emotions. Mood origin is harder to find and also last longer without a specific reason.
I am going to talk about called negative emotions that I went trough too while doing my masters in positive psychology and in life in general addressing positive psychology theories.
I have noticed that when I was doing my masters in positive psychology. Also, in other times in my life where I had to face hardship. I experienced a lot of called negative emotions such as anger, sadness, disgust, fear, anxiety, pain, confusion and so many more out there.
When the called negative emotions raised in my life. I felt discomfort while feeling the mixture of the called negative emotions in my body I was questioning myself asking why I had to go through such a pain in my life? Why this and that experience was happening to me. Even though I put myself in that shelf. I didn't think I deserved to go through such a challenging time. I was overwhelmed by these emotions. My body was experiencing a process where the nervous system releases an accumulation of stress hormones, cortisol, and adrenaline, leading the body to consider an emergence action.
I was confused and I didn't know what to do. It felt that I was going to feel the discomfort of these emotions for ever. Now I know that all the called negative emotions, thoughts and discomfort that I was feeling were just temporary they passed because I am here to tell you the story of the discomfort my negative emotions made me feel in challenging times post by post.
According to Lauri Nummenmaa (a specialist in human emotions) the emotional signals in the brain sent to the body automatically tell you to deal with the situation. How do you deal with your emotions? Do you know, that those emotions that make you feel uncomfortable, yes, they are there to alert you that something is not in line with your values and that you need to do something. Which may be a change or a strategy in your life to bring your inner peace back.
When I didn't know any better my discomfort emotions and negative thoughts felt overwhelming. initially, I didn't connect to my emotions, I struggled so much, because I did not understand the message my emotions were trying to communicate to me about myself. Now I understand more and I am working toward regulating my discomfort emotions and thoughts. what about you, do you connect with your emotions, how?
